Saxagliptin/metformin is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems.

Saxagliptin is a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is an illness where the body does not make enough insulin, or the insulin that it makes does not work properly. This can cause high blood sugar levels (hyperglycaemia).

Saxagliptin Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt form of saxagliptin, an orally bioavailable, potent, selective and competitive, cyanopyrrolidine-based inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4), with hypoglycemic activity. Saxagliptin is metabolized into an, although less potent, active mono-hydroxy metabolite.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Recommended Dosage

The recommended dosage of Saxagliptin (Zaglivia) is 2.5 mg or 5 mg once daily taken regardless of meals. Or as directed by Medical Practitioner.
